Survival UPDATE

Hey all , thanks for the votes , I have been reading through alot of the comments, and noticed that some of you are interested in a ´gaming server´.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO ADVERTISE ANY OTHER SERVERS.

Hey guys , first off I really want to apologise because of the insane delay this topic has.
The PvP server has been up for a few weeks now , while the SRV server is still at 1.3

But , I intended to postpone the 1.4 update on the SRV alot, for the people who have been on 1.4 on the SRV server know why I say this.
The server has been up for almost 1 year now , and the plugins ( The important ones , essentials , permissionsex ) etc , are all starting to derp.
We all experienced this with the McMMO and iConomy reset, which sadly still isn't fixed.

But now , with the 1.4 update essentials totally derps out.
Just for info , the essentials plugin manages all /warps , /homes , and even /sethomes.
Once you join the server the essentials plugin totally dies , not even 1 command works.

I have been trying to fix this , by downloading newer versions of essentials , and copying / pasting everything.
Sadly this didn't work, and this leaves us to almost no choice.

Either 1;

We will be shutting down the SRV server, I am insanely against this , but I want you guys to know that hosting a server takes alot of time, and this is something I currently don't got.
It would be a shame to see the SRV server go , but if most of the people vote for this then we might do it.

Or number 2;
I will be resetting the map/plugins , whitelist the server for 1 week and we will build our ways back up.
I hate to even think about resetting the map , not only because our spawn ( which took weeks-months to make ) , but also for your guys houses.

So both options are really bad in my eyes, but I hope you guys make the right decision.

Is there any other options? I want the Survival server to stay, but I don't want a new map..

I really don't like any of those options. But I have to go with the third one.

Would there be any way to keep players inventory but switch to a new map?

When updating to the new essentials jar, take a copy of the essentials folder (in the plguins section) delete the essentials folder. Likely the bugs encountered (and in the other plguins) are due to different config files i.e new lines of code.

This was found to be the cause of the no wool growth problem

I could help build, just not if it is this weekend.. But I don't think that we should shutdown the Survival Server.

When does the poll end?

It's a real hard decision, the current map has only been up for a few months, and the server shutting down will be really bad. I'm sure alot of people don't want to do either of these. Another idea could be: Making a new map, transfering all builds (only for people that want them) to the new map and making Minecart tracks. Seems like a really bad idea though, so I would probably go with 2.

EDIT: Another idea: Shut down the server but uploading the map of survival for download, or find a new plugin for the sethomes. (if there is one)

EDIT 2: Another idea: Make everyone take pictures of their base coords, and when the server updates and gets rid of the sethomes, spawn etc, admins and mods can tp people to the coords, and people will be able to sethomes again, without a map reset.

I think a map/plugin reset would be the best. Start on a clean plate. Making the new spawn building will take long, but I will help if needed.

Sad to see this happen , SRV was fun when it was at it highest peak , but if you do go through with the reset of SRV will any players retern , from the time SRV didnt update PVP has been very popular and alot of the SRV players are attached to it now.. is there any point of reseting the srv?

you CANNOT! shut down the SRV server cuz it is my favourite ever server ! and will always be! It is also my first ever server and I would actually be upset for it to go pls pls pls don't shut it down...

Actually, thats a good idea. Just put the old map up for download so we can still play on it at singleplayer.

I honestly am not even close to a regular player on the SRV. I've played it here and there. I think that it should honestly be shut down I hate to say it but from what i understand it would be most reasonable. I'm starting to see a ton of SRV regulars switching to the PVP. It would save a lot of money and hassle to just shut it down and focus solely on the PVP. Like I said i dont think my opinion should really matter here since i dont really play the SRV but thats what i think at least...

how about we keep the server for games (hungergames,paintball, dungeons, pvp arena, spleef, seeing who can say taco the most).

How about we make it a game server? Just have ever game known to minecraft?

I say we reset the map. I've put so much time and effort into that server(not to mention donating to it) and i Hope I can help get a new spawn working. although I kinda want to start fresh, I really don't. Me and my friends put so much effort into our island, My hotel and a huge city Im making. However could we have the map for download? That way everyone could see all of everyone's awesome builds?

Couldn't we just MCedit the spawn onto the new map?

I would actually like a reset. Nacho, Ayo, and I put so much time and effort into the server, but it would be nice to start fresh. Personally I would love to help build the spawn. I don't think this really effects me on the reset aspect due to being used to the random resets in the past.

i would hate to see the survival server go. i would like to help buid it up again if is gets reset

I guess I'm going to pick map reset.. I want to help build the new map if I can. I've got a good idea for a Mob Arena and possibly a city.

I hope its only restarting ....... even though I would like my base back but its better than a shut down
