PostSubject: [Tutorial] How To Increase FPS   [Tutorial] How To Increase FPS EmptyMon Jun 04, 2012 3:06 pm

{WINDOWS ONLY}

This is a tutorial for the people with the lower end computers who don't have the time/money to upgrade/buy a computer, and for people with a higher end computer that would enjoy running gsls shaders [Heavily Reduces FPS btw, i went from 320-400 FPS to 25-45]

First Off The Basics;
-Download Optifine ; Link to Minecraft Forum Post
|Download Standard If You Feel Lazy
|Download Smooth For Smoother FPS [Has all of Standard's Features + More]
|Download Multi-Core is -Very- Recommended if you have a multi-core computer [Has All Features of Standard + More]
-Defragment Your Hard Drive.
|Windows XP - Windows 8 Should have a defragmentation software Pre-installed [Disk Defragmenter]
-Download GameBooster [Bit Cliché But Works] ; [Link]

That Should Be About It, Should increases FPS 10-20, Usually Doubles It.
Credits To Original Sources ; Whom Ever They Are

Intermediate Part; [These are actually quite easy]
-Script To Optimize Ram [Only Need To Run Once, Results Vary, Increased My Computer Speed about 10-20%]
*Create Text File Named "ANYTHINGHERE.vbe"
*From the list below, Select the Line that fits your situation. [Copy Only the mystring=(*) Part, not the <- ... Part]
--** If You Don't Know Your RAM Memory, Press Start -> Run -> DxDiag [RAM Memory Right Next To Memory:]
*Paste The Line that fits your Situation into the file
*Save and Run It [Completely Safe]
*If It Pops Up A Notepad Document, You Did it wrong.
mystring=(80000000)
mystring=(160000000)
mystring=(320000000)
mystring=(655000000)
mystring=(1000000000)
<- For 128 Mb Ram
<- For 256 Mb Ram
<- For 512 Mb Ram
<- For 1 Gb Ram
<- For 2 Gb Ram And Up
-Download CCleaner ; Link To Site *Also Tells You Ram Ammount Btw*
Using It Should Be Self-Explanatory
*Small Note: Very Useful for Deleting Traces Of Deleted Files, so they're unrecoverable*

-Increase Minecraft's Memory
*Open Notepad
*Save a File Called "NAMEHERE.bat" in the same place as your Minecraft.exe
*In the .bat file, Copy & Paste
@echo off
java -client -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseAdaptiveGCBoundary -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=500 -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit -XX:SurvivorRatio=12 -Xnoclassgc -XX:UseSSE=3 -Xincgc -Xmx2048M -cp Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
exit

*Save it
*Now You Can Run Minecraft from the .bat file with more Memory

-Increase Java's priority in Task Manager [Optional Really, Since you have to redo it everytime]
*Make Sure Minecraft is Open*
*Press ctrl+Alt+Delete -> Task Manager -> Processes Tab -> Scroll Down To javaw.exe -> Right Click -> Set Priority -> High
*You probably have to do this everytime

-Configure Optifine [From The First Step]
*Should be self-explanatory, Just Roll Over Buttons To see Functions of each mode

That's about it. FPS Boosts Of 10-20 are mostly assured, Usually FPS Doubles.
